Dr Niall MacDougall
Niall initially studied neuroscience as an undergraduate in Glasgow before studying medicine as a graduate in the first intake at the Warwick Medical School. He trained in general medicine in Nuneaton, Coventry, Glasgow, and Ayr before completing an MD in Acute Stroke Neurology at the University of Glasgow. He trained as a neurology registrar in Dundee and Glasgow before working as a Clinical Lecturer in Neurology at the University of Glasgow between 2014 and 2016. He developed an interest in multiple sclerosis at clinics in Dundee, Glasgow, and the Royal London Hospital.
He has been a consultant neurologist since February 2016 delivering MS services in NHS Lanarkshire. He is an Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer teaching neurology to medical students on a weekly basis. He is the Chairperson for the steering group of the Scottish MS register. He is the national co-lead for the FutureMS project. He is interested in the pathophysiology and epidemiology of multiple sclerosis.
