Dr Lucy Stirland
Dr Lucy Stirland is a Consultant Old Age Psychiatrist with specialist training and experience in the diagnosis and care of people with dementia. She provides psychiatric input to the Cognitive Disorders Clinic.
Dr Stirland graduated from the University of Edinburgh Medical School in 2010 and trained in psychiatry in Fife, Lothian and the Borders. Alongside clinical work, she completed a PhD in epidemiology (data science) in 2020. Her research focuses on the interaction between having multiple physical conditions and brain health or dementia. After finishing psychiatry training in 2022, she spent a year at the University of California San Francisco as an Atlantic Fellow for Equity in Brain Health. She now splits her time between research and providing care for people with dementia in different NHS settings. She maintains internationalĀ links through her ongoing work with the Global Brain Health Institute.
