Prof Suvankar Pal received a well-deserved Student Experience Award for his outstanding effort to deliver teaching excellence at this year's College of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine Staff Awards.
Suvankar is a Deputy Director at the Anne Rowling Clinic, and Professor of Neurodegenerative Disorders and Clinical Trials at the Edinburgh Medical School, University of Edinburgh. He leads the Anne Rowling Undergraduate Scholars Programme which provides extracurricular opportunities for students interested in neurology. Suvankar has provided many opportunities for students to get involved in neurology and research and tries to get to know his students individually, tailoring opportunities to their skillsets and interests with continued encouragement.
His clear commitment to developing the next generation of neurologists, researchers and doctors and his knack for involving and genuinely encouraging students makes him a very deserving winner for this award.
“It’s a privilege to mentor students at different stages of their learning inspiring curiosity and confidence as they learn about how changes in the brain can impact people’s lives, and to think about ways in which we can improve their outcomes."
The Student Experience award is given to an individual or team who has made an outstanding effort to deliver excellence for students. It recognises those who prioritise the needs and perspectives of students throughout their university journey, and who seek to improve service and provision wherever possible.
We would also like to congratulate Dr Rebecca Devon, Deputy Director at the Anne Rowling Clinic who was shortlisted for the highly contested Outstanding Colleague Award.
