Dr David Breen
Dr David Breen specialises in the assessment and treatment of people with all types of movement disorders. He is particularly interested in Parkinson's disease.
His research focuses on studying the link between sleep and neurodegeneration, identifying genetic and environmental PD risk factors using large datasets, and finding better treatments for neglected non-motor symptoms in PD. He is also involved in clinical trials.
David studied medicine at the University of Edinburgh. He completed neurology and PhD training in Cambridge and London, before moving to Toronto as an Edmond J. Safra Movement Disorders Fellow under the mentorship of Tony Lang. He returned to Edinburgh in 2018.
He is a member of the Scottish Government National Advisory Committee for Neurological Conditions, Research Committee at Cure Parkinson's, and Quality Committee at Association of British Neurologists. He is also Undergraduate Year 4 Education Lead (Clinical Neurosciences) at Edinburgh Medical School.
