Opportunities at the Anne Rowling Clinic for aspiring clinical researchers.

Rowling Fellowships

Rowling Fellowships are designed to enable doctors undertaking their specialty training to step away from clinical practice for a period of 1-3 years to experience clinical research, and potentially pursue a higher degree (PhD/MD). Rowling Fellows are University of Edinburgh staff, on a clinical pay scale.

Rowling Fellows undertake clinical roles in academic, and commercial, research studies and trials, such as consenting participants, performing clinical assessments and maintaining patient databases, as well as promoting, conducting and reporting research. There will be opportunities for Fellows to gain insight into, for instance, trials assessment, research governance, ethics applications, clinical epidemiology, novel molecular diagnostic tests, neuroimaging, genetics and neuropathology. The Fellows also develop skills in leadership, management and public engagement activities.

Positions will be advertised on the University of Edinburgh vacancies website. Adverts will be released in the Spring to start the Autumn of the following year (Approximately 18 months lead time.) 


Rowling Internships

Rowling Internships are 12-month salaried positions to enable graduates at an early stage of their career to experience clinical research. The remit will usually comprise of data management and processing alongside the experience of working in a busy clinical research environment. There is also the opportunity for interns to develop their own area of research interest. Positions will be advertised on the University of Edinburgh vacancies website.

Internships are normally advertised in the Spring to start in August that year.
